【报告题目】:Adaptive Finite Element DtN Methods for Wave Scattering Problems
【报告摘要】:
(1)Scattering problems concern the effect that an inhomogeneous medium has on an incident field. They have played an essential role in many scientific areas such as radar and sonar, geophysical exploration, and medical imaging. In this talk, our recent studies will be introduced on numerical solutions of wave scattering problems by using the adaptive finite element method with the Dirichlet-to-Neumann (DtN) boundary condition.
(2)We show that the a posteriori error estimate consists of the finite element approximation error and the truncation error of the DtN operator, where the latter decays exponentially with respect to the truncation parameter. Numerical experiments will be presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method. Some ongoing and future work will also be highlighted on the time-domain scattering problems.

【报告人简介】:李培军,美国普渡大学数学系教授,2005年于美国密西根州立大学获得博士学位。其研究方向为科学计算、数值和数学分析、及偏微分方程的应用。具体领域包括偏微分方程反问题理论及计算,声波、弹性波及电磁波在复杂和随机介质中的散射和反散射问题。
