题目:Predator-prey models for pest management
摘要:Controlling insects and minimizing losses resulting from insect infestations are very important issues in agricultural entomology. Predator-prey models are used by many researchers to study the effect of pest control. In this talk, I introduce three of our works in this aspect. The first work is on biological control, where the release of natural enemies depends on the abundance of pest. The other two are about integrated pest management. In the first model, we consider the process of periodically releasing natural enemies and spraying pesticides at different fixed times. In the latter one, two threshold values are involved. One is for the pest. If the pest population is below this threshold value then no action is taken. When the pest population exceeds this threshold value, if the natural enemy population is below its threshold value then natural enemies are released and pesticide is applied otherwise only pesticide is applied.
