题目:Two patch problem with logistic dynamics and SLOSS debate
摘要:Two patch system has been used as a simplest model to understand the effect of dispersal to population dynamics when the environment is spatially heterogeneous. However, due to the abstract nature of the system, its interpretation requires a carefully chosen perspective. The ``perfect mixing paradox recently raised by Arditi et al. is a good example of its importance. We develop a perspective of the two-patch system by studying its connection to a background N-patch system. In particular, we see that the balanced dispersal models spatial homogeneity and the ``perfect mixing paradox is resolved from this new perspective.

题目:Diffusive animal movement with spatial memory
摘要:Animals often self-organize into territorial structure from movements and interactions of individual animals. Memory is one of the cognitive processes that may affect the movement and navigation of the animals. I will introduce our recent work via a modified Fick’s law to model and simulate the memory-based movement.
